Principal SW Engineering Lead

Overview of the role
This role operates across all Trask software delivery units involved in custom software development for banking, telco, utilities and large enterprise clients. The position works on projects where Trask controls engineering processes and tooling. The SW Engineering Lead will collaborate closely with the CTO (Jan Antoš) and senior developers across units to introduce modern AI‑enabled software engineering practices.
Mission of the Role
To build a modern engineering capability at Trask — enabling faster, cheaper, and higher‑quality software delivery through AI agents, advanced tooling, and a redefined engineering role model.
The mission includes increasing team productivity, reducing delivery costs, improving estimation accuracy, and establishing repeatable engineering standards across the company.
6‑Month Objectives
1) Launch AI-enabled delivery on selected projects
- Introduce AI agents into daily engineering workflows.
- Select 3–5 projects under Trask’s full process control.
- Demonstrate measurable productivity improvements.
2) Build the initial engineering team
- Secure allocations of senior developers from each unit.
- Define responsibilities and operating model.
- Initiate hiring or dedication of roles where needed.
3) Establish a new AI-aware pricing model
- Incorporate AI spend, benefits and margin impact.
- Enable more accurate pricing based on real productivity data.
- Deliver recommendations to sales and delivery teams.

- Introducing AI agents and modern engineering practices.
- Designing and maintaining tooling for AI-enabled development workflows.
- Collaborating with the CTO on AI engineering strategy.
- Creating and maintaining engineering standards across units.
- Rapid prototyping and PoC development.
- Selecting suitable projects for rollout (per‑project approach).
- Supporting presales and pricing of AI‑related projects.
- Building and leading a cross‑unit engineering team.
- Daily cooperation with senior developers across Trask.
Required qualifications
- Strong experience in custom software development (8+ years).
- Hands-on authority and ability to demonstrate solutions quickly.
- Knowledge of modern AI tools, agents and LLM engineering.
- Experience designing software processes and tooling.
- Technical leadership background.
- Ability to work with business, architecture and delivery.
- Advantage: experience with project pricing/presales.
- Fluent Czech and English.
